Joining
| While children
may be dedicated and welcomed into our church community as
infants, true membership in a Unitarian Universalist
congregation comes when a person decides they are in basic
agreement with our UU Principles, and makes a commitment to a
particular church. In our congregation, we ask that you think
seriously about your decision to join, and consider the
following steps to help you discern your level of commitment. |
|
 |
-
Attend several services
over a period of six months to a year
-
Read our newsletter to
familiarize yourself with the life of the church
-
Join some church activity
or interest group where you can meet others
-
Talk to a member of the
Volunteer Co-ordination Committee about where your
gifts fit in
-
Attend the “New UU”
Newcomers Orientations offered by the Membership
Committee
-
Read our
Unitarian Universalist
Principles and
Our Church’s
Mission/Covenant Statement to see if you are
in basic agreement with them
-
Read up on Unitarian
Universalist History
-
Contribute generously to
financially support the church and its ministries
-
Make an appointment to
meet with a person on the Membership Committee or the
Minister to ask questions about our faith or our
church, or ask for a “Church Mentor”
When
you decide to become a member, your decision will be
celebrated in a special Ceremony of Welcome for New
Members held twice a year. You will be eligible to vote,
to chair Committees and task forces, to participate
fully in the life of the church and to benefit from its
many ministries. |
