Music Ministry is an
integral part of our worship and caring ministry to each other
and to the world. Through the universal language of music,
understood by everyone, we reach into the human soul and touch
what is common to all. Music unites us in joy or in sorrow,
speaking to that we feel most deeply.
Our church is committed to a Music Ministry which is diverse
and volunteer-rich. While we benefit from the expertise of our
Professional Music Staff, we also celebrate the gifts of the
community; our volunteer Choir, and the many members and
friends who make music for us each week. We also welcome
special guest artists who bring new skills and sounds to us.
We feature regular “Music Sundays” throughout the year – from
our Holiday Music Sunday in December, to the Christmas
Pageant, to two “Music For Its Own Sake” Services in June and
September. If you have music gifts to share, please approach
one of our musicians on Sunday and let them know.
Choir
Our Choir is open to any interested singers from youth and
beginners to the wise and experienced. Choir meets every
Thursday night from 7:30 –9 and sings in Church approximately
every 3-4 weeks. We sing a wide variety of music styles,
origins, cultures and arrangements. Come out to Choir – You’ll
be glad you did!
The lyrics and music are
by Ed Canning and the arrangement and voice are by Rachel
Derry, both of the First Unitarian Church of Hamilton.
Please feel free to download the original Unitarian Anthem
for non-commercial purposes.
